The New Rainbow Color School
If trees are the lungs of the earth, then artists are the soul and conscience of it's people.
The two New York City artists behind this installation, Marshall Reese and Nora Ligorano, have been installing temporary sculptures like this since 2006. This is the fourth time they have used the word democracy.
Reese and Ligorano and their team worked on the 3,000 pound sculpture, which they are calling “Last Call – DemocracyICED,” as part of the Up in Arms campaign — an initiative led by Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to advocate for responsible military spending.
In the tradition of the Black Lives Matter street art that was recently removed from DC, “Last Call- Democracy Iced” , combines protest with a compelling, iconic graphic image, set in front of the U.S. Capitol.
